Nestled next to the Sacramento River, Teal Bend resembles a links course. Course architect Brad Bell of Sacramento has designed a course both playable and challenging.

From any of the four sets of tees you play, Teal Bend offers length and undulated greens as a challenge. Yet, the longer holes are open in front and the fairways generous, offering rewards to good golf shots. However, the wide fairways are protected laterally by wetland hazards that do gobble up stray shots.

In classic parkland style, the tree-lined fairways meander over rolling terrain ideal for golf. A robust but fair test with broad fairways and many elevated tees, the course is set amid the 1400 acres of Mather Regional Park.

The open surrounding lands and the course itself are a natural habitat for abundant native wildlife, including foxes and wild turkeys. Mather Golf Course is a rare combination of natural beauty and strategic challenge for the visiting golfer.

A Terry Dye designed course that is a jewel, first opening in 1995, is a tight links style course with lots of mounding and a fair amount of water. There is even an island green, similar to a scaled-down TPC Sawgrass.

A full-service restaurant, bar, outdoor patio, gazebo and golf shop make Bartley Cavanaugh an ideal place for a golf outing.

With its distinctive character and challenging design, Wildhawk Golf Club has quickly become one of Sacramento’s most sought-after public golf courses. Natural landscapes and scenic water features accent the country setting.

The course also features an excellent drainage system—making the course playable during the rainy season. The customer service is second to none, with each guest receiving five-star treatment you would expect only from a country club.

Mather Golf Course
No. 18 Par 4
401 yards
Confident golfers may chose to cut the corner of this hole, a par-4 that goes 401 yards and bends to the left. A successfully navigated drive over the trees cuts the yardage considerably, leaving a short iron to the green. Of course, the safe play is to hang the drive out the right side and play for par.

Wildhawk Golf Club
No. 3 Par 5
515 yards

The dogleg right third hole has its share of bunkers. Second-shot locations may tempt some golfers to head for the green. Consider the trouble. Getting there on the third shot is probably the wise choice.

No. 8 Par 4
391 yards

The course's most difficult hole. It's possible to cut the corner off the tee. The brave or misdirected may venture in that area. Best bet is playing it safe and hoping a sizable long iron will result in a birdie putt.
