| SPECIAL OLYMPICS OF NORTHERN CALIFORNIA |
Once again, we are pleased that proceeds from the 32nd Annual Glide Floss
Bridge to Bridge will go to Special Olympics Northern California.
Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for people eight years of age and older with developmental disabilities. These programs give athletes continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of gifts, skill, and friendship with their families, other athletes and the community.
Special Olympics Northern California is proud to serve over 14,000 individuals with developmental disabilities. There are training and competition opportunities year-round within Special Olympics Northern California. The programs are free to all eligible athletes and are possible thanks to the generous support from individuals and businesses who believe in Special Olympics athletes.
One such athlete is Lindsay Mibach of Los Altos, who has been involved with Special Olympics for the past 12 years. Special Olympics has given Lindsay the opportunity to learn sports, while having fun with her friends. She plays floor hockey, basketball, softball, aquatics, and more, but she is most proud of the gold medal she won in golf.
Lindsay is just one reason we are pleased that proceeds from this event benefit her and so many athletes just like her who love sports…while giving them the opportunity to take part and compete.
You can contact the Special Olympics if you'd like to volunteer…they coordinate all 350 of the volunteers that we need on the Saturday before race day and race day itself.
